U.S. Congress Approves Greater Corporate Predation

On June 18, House members narrowly approved fast track Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) – using procedural gimmicks, bribes and heavy pressure, the usual way corrupt politicians operate. On June 23, Senate members followed suit. A cloture motion to end debate passed – clearing the way for a Wednesday vote expected to support TPA. Public Citizen President Robert Weissman commented saying: The usual “legislative contortions an gimmicks…hand(ed) (corporate predators) their ...Read full article...

New York Times Big Lies

The Times is an establishment publication – a lying machine, a mouthpiece for powerful monied interests at the expense of popular ones. Hard truths are suppressed. Managed news misinformation substitutes. Readers are systematically lied to on issues mattering most. Times editors, correspondents and contributors aren’t journalists. They’re guardians of wealth, power and privilege. On January 22, two editorials willfully lied about Vladimir Putin and America’s economy. A previous article ...Read full article...

Mass Shootings: It’s the disarmament stupid!

Guns don’t shoot people just like cars don’t run over pedestrians. However, politicians and those who favor a disarmed population continue to use every opportunity they find to call for mass disarmament. Why? Let’s establish two important premises before we try to understand why politicians and pro-disarmament people advocate for mass confiscation of firearms. If there is one single common fact about mass shootings is that the perpetrator knows ...Read full article...

NSA Spying: Is a bad deal better than no deal?

The symbolic step taken to go from Patriot Act provisions to Freedom Act regulations is insignificant in the effort to protect privacy. If anyone believed that letting three Patriot Act provisions expire meant real change in the way the NSA spies on millions of innocent people, we have now learned that it didn’t change anything. In fact, the changes were so meaningless that US President, Barack Obama, has signed ...Read full article...

Patriot Act provisions expire after Senate fails to approve extension

Section 215, which enabled bulk collection of phone, Internet and business records is no longer in effect, but will this really mean the end of massive surveillance program? Let’s be honest, the NSA will not stop spying on Americas or American allies. With or without the Patriot Act in effect, the military industrial complex will continue its attempt to completely take over our lives. Although in theory the Patriot ...Read full article...

Yea for Surveillance

The US Senate voted against a bill whose purpose was to end the collection of telephone data of millions of citizens. This practice has been carried out by the National Security Agency (NSA) over decades, but has only been notices fairly recently, after whistleblowers like Edward Snowden and others came forward with documents and testimony about the illegal and unconstitutional practices that until then had been done in secret. ...Read full article...

Memorial Day Is A Hoax

Memorial Day commemorates soldiers killed in war. We are told that the war dead died for us and our freedom. US Marine General Smedley Butler challenged this view. He said that our soldiers died for the profits of the bankers, Wall Street, Standard Oil, and the United Fruit Company. Here is an excerpt from a speech that he gave in 1933: War is just a racket. A racket is ...Read full article...

Congressional Anti-Consumer DARK Act Legislation

U.S. Government Denying Americans the Right to Know On March 25, House Rep. Mike Pompeo (R. KS) introduced HR 1599: Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015. It seeks “(t)o amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with respect to food produced from, containing, or consisting of a bioengineered organism, the labeling of natural foods, and for other purposes.” Critics call the measure the Denying Americans the ...Read full article...

Is Washington Coming To Its Senses?

There is much speculation about US Secretary of State John Kerry’s rush visit to Russia in the wake of Russia’s successful Victory Day celebration on May 9. On May 11, Kerry, who was snubbing Russia on the 9th, was on his way to Russia, and Putin consented to see him on May 12. As time passes we will find out why Kerry was snubbing Putin on May 9 and ...Read full article...

Senate Defeats Anti-Consumer Trade Bill Fast Track Authority

Score one for the good guys. A previous article explained so-called “trade promotion authority (TPA)” lets Obama and his trade representative, complicit with corporate predators, ram through Congress, with minimal debate, no amendments or public discussion outrageous legislation global justice advocates call NAFTA on steroids. Proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) are stealth corporate coup d’etat measures – freedom and ecosystem-destroying nightmares. Corporate giants ...Read full article...

The Double Edged Sword

My Double Edged Trip to Plaquemines Parish, began at night while driving from Mississippi on a two laned highway. Etched across the skies in the dark forever in my mind’s eye, were the lights of megalithic refineries. It was an auditory hauntingly quiet, drive into a place that I had never been, but visually my eyes were overwhelmed with the colorful lights. As far as the eye could see, ...Read full article...

Back in Fascist Canada

There is no place like home, unless home is no longer what it used to be. It is not pleasant to get back home when home is a place where free people are abused, attacked, harassed and intimidated. This is the experience author and activist Kevin Mugur Galalae went through this week at an airport checkpoint in Canada. The problem is that Mr. Galalae is not a criminal or ...Read full article...

Will Washington Kill Us All?

Did you know that Washington keeps 450 nuclear ICBMs on “hair-trigger alert”? Washington thinks that this makes us “safe.” The reasoning, if it can be called reason, is that by being able to launch in a few minutes, no one will try to attack the US with nuclear weapons. US missiles are able to get on their way before the enemy’s missiles can reach the US to destroy ours. ...Read full article...

FBI accused of whitewashing Saudi involvement in 9/11 attacks. “Red-Herring”, Propaganda Ploy

The alleged Saudi involvement in supporting Osama bin Laden, not to mention the classified 28 pages of the 9/11 joint Congressional inquiry pertaining to the insidious role of Saudi Arabia in supporting the hijackers is  part of a propaganda ploy.  When the report of Joint Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 was released in December 2002, it was met with considerable skepticism. That skepticism grew for a period of time but then was reduced to ...Read full article...
