“American values”, according to Biden, should allow the massive entry of illegals to the country.
President Joe Biden formally raised the national limit on refugee admissions to 62,500 this year, weeks after facing a bipartisan setback over his delay in replacing the record low limit set by former President Donald Trump.
Biden was expected to quadruple the number of refugees allowed into the United States this year since Feb. 12, when a presidential proposal was presented to Congress saying he planned to do so, but the presidential determination remained unsigned until Monday.
Biden said he first needed to expand the narrow eligibility criteria established by Trump that had kept most of the refugees out. He did so last month in an emergency resolution.
But he also stated that Trump’s limit of up to 15,000 refugees this year “remains justified by humanitarian concerns and is otherwise in the national interest,” indicating that Biden intended to maintain it.
Democratic Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois called that initial limit “unacceptable” and within hours the White House made a quick course correction.
The administration promised to raise the cap on May 15, but the White House said it likely wouldn’t reach the 62,500 that Biden had previously planned. In the end, Biden returned to that figure.
“It is important to take this action today to remove any doubt in the minds of refugees around the world,” said Biden. In other words, no matter what part of the world someone is from, they can knock on the door at the border and it will be opened. Or better yet, you don’t even need to knock, you can just open it and feel at home.
Biden said he received additional information that led him to sign the presidential emergency order that sets the limit at 62,500.
Biden said Trump’s cap “does not reflect the values of the United States as a nation that welcomes and supports refugees“, as if it were a matter of what president were in office.
Biden, the face of the new WOKE ideology, acknowledged the “sad reality” that the United States would not reach the 62,500 limit by the end of the fiscal year in September, given the pandemic and limitations on the country’s resettlement capabilities, some of which the he has attributed to the policies of the Trump administration.
The White House insisted that it could not act until now because the administration was being hit by a sharp increase in unaccompanied young migrants from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras arriving at the southern border of the United States, although any link between the border and the government’s decision on the refugees was not immediately clear. Refugee advocates, including Durbin, accused Biden of political gambling.
Biden said Monday it was important to raise the number to show “America’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable and to being a beacon of freedom and refuge for the world.”
The way is also paved for Biden to raise the limit to 125,000 for the 2022 fiscal year that begins in October. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that work is being done to improve the United States’ capabilities to go through the refugee registration process in order to accept as many of them as possible under the new cap.
Refugee resettlement agencies, which receive government funding, certainly applauded Biden’s action while rubbing their hands.
“We are absolutely thrilled and relieved for so many refugee families around the world seeking protection in the United States,” said Krish O’Mara Vignarajah, director of the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, one of nine resettlement agencies in the nation. .
“This is a critical step in rebuilding the program and returning the US to our global humanitarian leadership role.” Biden also added more spaces for refugees from Africa, the Middle East and Central America and ended Trump’s restrictions on resettlement from Somalia, Syria and Yemen.
Approximately 35,000 refugees have been authorized to go to the United States and 100,000 are still pending.
It does not matter if you are pro or against immigration, legal or illegal. It is clear that what the Biden regime is planning is to enlarge the list of voters for his party, bringing immigrants clandestinely, so that in the next elections the Democratic Party has hundreds of thousands of new voters that will help the DNC to remain in power forever.
