Chevron will pay $ 19 billion for Damages in the Amazon

By LUIS MIRANDA | THE REAL AGENDA | OCTOBER 17, 2012

A judge in Ecuadorian ordered authorities to confiscate assets that belong to American oil giant Chevron as part of a multimillion conviction for having caused environmental damages in the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Judge Wilfrido Erazo, a judge in the province of Sucumbios issued and order against the assets of Chevron and its subsidiaries in Ecuador following a complain made by people who were harmed by the environmental damage caused by Chevron.

The oil company reacted immediately through its Communication Advisor for Latin America who strongly criticized the Court’s decision. James Craig said that both the legal counsel for the plaintiffs and the judge were wrong about the issue and that the ruling was “illegal”.

The same Court of Sucumbios is the same one that ordered Chevron to pay more than 19,000 million last year in what the decision said was compensation for the severe environmental damage caused during the period when Chevron extracted oil from the Ecuadorian Amazon. That period began in 1964 and went up until 1990.

The judge’s order states that the enforcement of the sentence will be a “tax on the entire estate of Chevron” until the entire amount of the judgment is paid in full. JUdge Erazo also called Chevron’s negative to pay ”rebellious”.

The embargo of Chevron’s assets includes a fine of more than $ 96 million fine imposed by a court of International Arbitration (ICSID) against the Government of Ecuador, issued after Chevron filed a lawsuit on another matter.

The court’s action also covers the seizure of fuel related products that are sold in the market and that belongs to Chevron and its subsidiaries: Chevron, Texaco, Ursa, Havoline, Doro and others.

The order issued by judge Erazmo means that Chevron’s profits obtained from the sale of these products will be immediately seized by the Ecuadorian government to be deposited in an account that belongs to the Court of Sucumbios. This move will ensure that the oil giant indeed pays its debt.

Besides the decision made by judge Erazo, the plaintiffs’ lawyers also took legal action against Chevron in Canada and Brazil. Last week, the US Supreme Court rejected a request by Chevron to block the sentence issued by the Ecuadorian courts. Now, the plaintiffs legal team believes that it will be possible to obligate Chevron to pay its debt and that no legal impediments will get in the way anywhere in the world.

For his part, the spokesman for Chevron said Erazo’s court order “is not surprising, since the applicants have demonstrated that they can get any order they want from the Court” of Sucumbios. ”I know that the plaintiffs’ lawyers have been involved in drafting secret prior orders of the court,” said Craig, but did not say on what occasions. The judge’s action constitutes ”a new violation of international law on the part of Ecuador”, said Craig, so Chevron “will seek to combat this illegal action” through “all available legal mechanisms, both inside and outside” the country.

Craig also said that Chevron has “no assets” in Ecuador, and that only the company’s subsidiaries had a ”minimum of assets”.

Chevron denies the validity of the Ecuadorian courts’ decision and has refused to pay the penalties imposed by the judge. The company has said that the court has committed ”fraud” and that the conviction is part of a plot created by the plaintiffs’ legal team.

United Nations Environmental Program Embraces Calls for Eugenics

By JURRIAAN MAESSEN | EXPLOSIVEREPORTS | JUNE 19, 2012

The Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro has begun. The global leviathan that is the United Nations bares its teeth. In the months preceeding the summit, a continuing stream of publications has poured down from every corner of the transnational community, in essence calling for global governance of the environment as well as a stark reduction in the global human population. These two items are very much intertwined, according to the growing pile of UN papers flying from the supranational tree, all basically stating that the first is necessary in order to facilitate the latter.

One of these leaves circles down to us from the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) displays a collection of “key messages” written by the usual suspects, such as dedicated man-hater Paul Ehrlich, eco-terrorist James Lovelock and NASA’s own mad-as-hell environmentalist James Hansen.  Their joint statement titled “Environment and Development Challenges: The Imperative to Act” was clearly designed to inspire the UN and its upcoming confab to make haste with global government. In their manifesto the impatient fiends call for a global implementation of population policies and rights being trampled upon in order to address what they call “the population issue”:

“The population issue should be urgently addressed by education and empowerment of women, including in the work-force and in rights, ownership and inheritance; health care of children and the elderly; and making modern contraception accessible to all.”, they write.

“Globally, we must find better means to agree and implement measures to achieve collective goals.”

The authors go on to assert that “in the face of an absolutely unprecedented emergency, society has no choice but to take dramatic action to avert a collapse of civilization. Either we will change our ways and build an entirely new kind of global society, or they will be changed for us.”

Decrying that “funding (for worldwide fertility control) decreased by 30% between 1995 and 2008, not least as a result of legislative pressure from the religious right in the USA and elsewhere”, the authors call for “education and planning needed to foster and achieve a sustainable human population and lifestyles.”

Now what do you think this means exactly, a sustainable human population? James Lovelock in 2009 gave us the answer, called for the culling of the population with a desired outcome of 1 billion people worldwide.

Lovelock also arrogantly stated in 2010 that humans are too stupid to prevent climate change- therefore governments worldwide, preferably a one world government, must prevent it for them.

Of all the eco-fascists penning down proposals, Paul Ehrlich may be considered the most bloodthirsty of the bunch- with his continuing insistence on massive population reduction. Few people need to be reminded of the words he wrote in Ecoscience which he co-authored with John P. Holdren, the current White House science czar. To highlight a few of these:

“Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.”

In Brazil, it is Monsanto vs 5,000,000

By LUIS MIRANDA | THE REAL AGENDA | JUNE 4, 2012

Monsanto is one of the most powerful corporations on the planet and one of a handful that heavily influences government policy when it comes to food production. This company is also one of a few that has proposed as their main goal to control perhaps the most important aspect of human existence, which is the food supply system. Together with Cargill, Monsanto is known as the thugs of the food supply, as they are charged with the poisoning of our food system. Monsanto is a biotechnology giant, and as such, it makes its money by selling genetically modified organisms often implanted in food crops such as corn, soy, cotton and others. As many people are well aware, these three agricultural products are probably the top ones when it comes to feeding the world and that is why the company’s intention to patent them is worrisome.

Hundreds if not thousands of farmers from around the world have tried to sue Monsanto for what they consider are illegal practices, monopolistic policies, food contamination, and other issues in an attempt to cut off the tentacles that are now strangling the food supply. But every single time, Monsanto has managed to defeat lawsuit after lawsuit. In response to accusations of fraudulent business practices, the bio-tech giant has counter sued farmers who dared challenge its supremacy in order to convince others that it is impossible to end its growing monopoly on food production. As seen on films such as Food Inc and Farmaggedon, Monsanto spares no resources when it comes to punishing farmers that seek to cancel their contracts, or even those who don’t want to do business with them.

But the problem with Monsanto is not only about its present actions. Its past is almost as concerning as its intention to own every single form of food. The company is the creator of the artificial sweetener saccharin, which it sold to Coca-Cola and canned food companies as a sugar replacement. It is also used in Splenda and almost all chewing gum and candy. In its most toxic form, artificial sweeteners like aspartame are known to cause cancer. The company also developed Agent Orange, first produced as an herbicide and defoliant, but later used as a military weapon by the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Over 12 million gallons of the chemical described as “perhaps the most toxic molecule ever synthesized by man”, were dropped over people, towns, farms, and water supplies.

Monsanto also brought us the Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone, which is used worldwide, except for a few developed nations. “The milk we drink today is quite unlike the milk our ancestors were drinking without apparent harm for 2,000 years,” said Harvard scientist Ganmaa Davaasambuu. “The milk we drink today may not be nature’s perfect food.” According to analysis conducted on milk that originated from rBGH-injected cows, the high levels of this hormone found in the milk, caused higher levels of cancer-causing hormones and lower nutritional value. And we cannot forget Monsanto’s growing seed production, which the company claims produce foods that are perfectly safe to eat. As many will suspect, the only studies that have concluded such thing are Monsanto-sponsored tests or others that they company has conducted itself.

If Monsanto’s game is one of numbers, then that what it is going to get. Recently, five million Brazilian farmers began a legal feud with US biotech giant Monsanto for what they claim is the unfair payment of royalties for the use of their seed with genetically engineered organisms. GMOs were illegally introduced in Brazil over a decade ago, and now 85 percent of the soy produced in the country is genetically modified. Much of Monsanto’s success is owed to the complicity of powerful local and foreign land owners who chose quantity over quality. The government agencies that are supposed to oversee food safety haven’t done their job either, as GMOs haven’t been properly labeled.

The legal battle between Monsanto and the 5 million farmers stems from their refusal to pay royalties to the US company. In 2008, millions of farmers agreed to fight Monsanto and its policy to collect payment for the use of its technology, even from farmers who did not do business with the corporation. The farmers complain that Monsanto unlawfully demands that producers of transgenic soy pay 2 percent of their earnings in royalties. “Monsanto gets paid when it sell the seeds. The law gives producers the right to multiply the seeds they buy and nowhere in the world is there a requirement to pay for a second time. Producers are in effect paying a private tax on production,” said lawyer Jane Berwanger.

Although a Brazilian judge ruled that Monsanto’s policy of requesting royalties was not legal, and demanded that the company returned the money taken from farmers since 2004, the company appealed the decision and took it to a federal court, which is supposed to make a decision by 2014. Such decision will consist of a court upholding Brazilian laws or bending over to Monsanto’s interests. Some Brazilian farmers believe that the higher the case goes, the less of a chance they have to come out on the winning side. There is just too much money involved. Government numbers show that sales of genetically modified soy, used for animal feed, oil production and biofuel, among other things, have reached $24.1 billion, adding up to 26 percent of Brazil’s agricultural exports in 2011. Most of that soy is sold to China.

Besides the dangers presented to humans, animals and other plant species, transgenic soy also brings another problem: the issue of running an agricultural model based on monoculture. “Transgenic soy occupies 44 percent of land under grain cultivation but represents only 5.5 percent of farm jobs,” says Sergio Schlesinger, a researcher who describes the advance of soybean monoculture in his book The Grain that Grew too much. Mr. Schlesinger talks about the fact that a monoculture scheme is not beneficial due to the fact that the highly mechanized system requires much less labor, which leads to less need for farm workers.

The Brazilian government has gone from banning GMOs to opening the lands to it, to investing and taking part on research and development of GMO. Today, GMO soy is present in 17 states in Brazil, where the southern lands of Mato Grosso, Parana and Rio Grande do Sul account for the largest production. Along with Brazil, Argentina, China and India are also big players in the soy production and trade markets. Brazil has been sought as an option for the plantation of large amounts of soy and other GMO products due to its abundant water and land resources and it is expected to become the largest soybean producer. This has so-called environmentalists very worried in Brazil due to the acceleration of deforestation and water waste that Big Agra usually brings along anywhere it goes.

Big Government: It’s Coming to Take It All

By LUIS R. MIRANDA | THE REAL AGENDA | APRIL 26, 2012

If by now you are not familiar with the stated agenda from international government — working through national and local agencies — to effectively take humanity back to the stone age, I suggest you pinch yourself. The number of initiatives established to sequester our way of life and to reduce it to having to cook, shower and live as people used to do back in the Dark Ages continues to pile up. The proponents of these de-industrialization policies are no longer limited to crazy environmentalists who request that we all commit suicide in order to save the planet, but is it is preached on us by accomplice politicians and heads of NGOs who are worried about the consequences of development and a higher living standard for the third world.

The latest example of the lunacy with which politicians and bureaucrats want to impose their radical agenda on everyone else comes from an official at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Al Armendariz, an EPA regional administrator was quoted by US Senator James Inhofe as saying how much he and his agency intended to “crucify” oil and gas companies. Don’t take me wrong, big oil and gas companies are undoubtedly some of the largest polluters on the planet joined by a selected group of corporations from the agroindustrial and medical-pharmaceutical establishments. In fact, governments around the world do very little to safeguard the public from production practices that endanger everyone’s lives.

Take for example the case of the genetically modified organisms that are put in almost everything we eat or use today. Governments refuse to properly label GMOs excusing themselves and the corporations that produce them by saying that there is not difference between naturally conceived products and those made in a lab. This couldn’t be further from the truth, of course. One would not have enough time to cite the number of studies that have unequivocally found a direct relationship between GMO consumption and sterility, cancer, and other diseases. Only studies conducted or sponsored by large industrial conglomerates continue to show that GMOs are safe.

Another case is the oil and gas industry which has played its game off the hook for decades. This resulted in the deliberate mass pollution of the environment around the globe without any kind of accountability. Big Business is the Biggest Polluter of the Environment, however, Big Government continues to blame small farmers and self-sufficient folks for the direst damages caused to mother nature. Sadly, the ‘greenies’ that want us all to live in caves are nowhere to be found when it comes to defending ourselves and the environment from the irresponsible industrial production practices used by the largest polluters. The reason for this is, as you many already know, that ‘greenies’ are by and large bought and paid for by Big Business. Every re-known environmental organization — from government and otherwise — is directly or indirectly funded by corporations or by the government itself. These organizations are charged with the responsibility to make us think that we humans are all bad; that we have brought onto ourselves the wrath of mother nature because we have been selfish and greedy. But ask yourself now, in case you haven’t done it before, who are the largest polluters?

Government cannot let the people off its leash, so efforts are on the way to restrict energy and food independence. The war that Big Government is waging against our way of life is not meant to control Big Business so it doesn’t abuse consumers. Rather, it is to ensure that Big Business becomes the sole regulator and provider of everything any human being requires to stay alive. That is why it is common to hear bureaucrats speaking about savagely attacking oil and gas companies, locally managed water companies, independent farmers, ‘prepers’, those who choose to have a garden in their backyard, or even people who sell vegetables or raw milk to neighbors or relatives. For this attack to be successful, government enlists cowardly snitches who enjoy the power trips provided by a badge and a gun. The EPA, for example, is not interested in keeping the environment safe and clean; otherwise they would have already remediated the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico — instead of spraying Corexit –, they would not allow BPA to be used in plastics, they would have prohibited the sale of products that were not properly labeled for their ingredients, and so on.

“I was in a meeting once and I gave an analogy to my staff about my philosophy of enforcement, and I think it was probably a little crude and maybe not appropriate for the meeting, but I’ll go ahead and tell you what I said: It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean.  They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them. Then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.” These statements in bold summarize what Big Government, in cahoots with Big Business, intends to do with us.  They want us to be slaves to them and their policies. I do not need to repeat Monsanto’s idea of the future of food supply, but I am going to. “No food shall be grown that we don’t own”. How much have governments done to assure the people that this will not happen?

When Barack Obama opposes the exploration and extraction of oil and natural gas or the construction of a new pipeline, this doesn’t reflect his interest in keeping the environment clean. Instead, it means he will assure Warren Buffet’ ability to maintain control of the transportation of such resources, a scenario that would end should Obama support the construction of such pipeline system.

When Big Government invests trillions of dollars in new energy sources by providing taxpayer money to dubious enterprises that go bankrupt soon after without producing a single piece of technology that achieves such a goal, it does not mean that government intends to make a country independent from fossil fuels, but that it needs to pay back the thousands of contributions received during the political campaign and to close backdoor deals negotiated during private meetings with campaign contributors and monopoly men.

Big Agra is another example of the ironic world we live in. Because people are now realizing that they need to be self-sufficient, that it is necessary to detach themselves from government and corporate welfare, those two entities are doing everything possible to restrict people who seek economic, health, nutritional and intellectual independence. While only a handful of corporations control the food supply, for example, more people are working hard to put together their own food garden and raise chickens or cows. But in a world where governments are more out of control than ever before, being self-sufficient is a crime. That is why law enforcement, at the behest of Big Government, burn down fields, charge people with crimes for selling raw milk, confiscate food, kick  folks out of their properties and ultimately threaten them with long jail terms all for the sake of a saving the environment. In summary, Big Government does everything possible to make us fail; it is coming to take everything we own, everything we’ve earned.

They come to schools and indoctrinate kids to make them believe that it is better to be dead in order to save the environment, they take private lands and ‘protect them’ under the guidance of the United Nations. These lands are, in most cases, later handed to contractors who develop them into large elite-ran facilities for their own enjoyment, instead of conserving them for future generations, which is what they tell us they’ll do. They create policies to manage the food and supplement choices that people have, banning natural treatments while imposing Big Government mandated healthcare that pushes deadly medications on everyone. This in turn will guarantee that more people will become patients of the pharmaceutical industry by having to use their toxic products for the rest of their lives. Some of them don’t even get to use them for that long, as the chemicals in those products kill them before they reach their golden years.

Big Government and Big Business are assuring themselves that we will all need to come to them for anything and everything. Their plans include creating a failed society, where people will follow their corrupt leaders as supposed to holding them accountable. They want to reduce or completely eliminate prosperity and kill people’s dreams of growth, comfort and development. Their policies intend to keep the cost of living so high, through energy monopolies and speculation, that people will beg for action to get cheaper energy or to attack countries to rob them of their resources. At the same time, they will make us feel inadequate for having hot water and electricity in our homes and a car to drive to work. They artificially make energy prices high, so that unreal new proposals for cheaper energy find fertile ground to fall on. They indoctrinate the population to make them believe that progress is responsible for global warming, so that people restrict their needs of traveling, feeding, clothing and leisure. They tell the kids that humanity causes the weather to cool off and to warm up, so we all need to stop driving, flying, feeding and having fun. Then, they call any natural disaster climate change and blame it on all humans.

Meanwhile, the Banking elite blames the nonexistent free-market for the economic crisis and call for a world government to help standardize fiscal, financial and monetary policies, much like they did after World War II, when the United Nations was formed to avoid criminal wars. This elite blames the same prosperity they’ve enjoyed for decades for the warming, the cooling, the crisis and the conflict, so people believe that it is prosperity what needs to go. Many of those people, who’ve never seen prosperity are now strongly condemning it and calling for a global socialist system that helps spread ruin and misery worldwide. They of course, see it as spreading the wealth and as an opportunity to get what they deserve; even though they haven’t earned it. The strong opposition to development the elite finds in the massive ignorant public emboldened them to create regulations that favor their monopolistic control-mad agendas while eliminating their competition; the innovative small and mid-sized businesses. They create and impose globalization as a way to bring about progress, but globalization only brings poverty, environmental destruction and underdevelopment. Globalization and the so-called free trade are indeed the new faces of Feudalism applied on a global scale.

Big Government’s intent is to change our goals and dreams to own a home, raise a family and educate our children. The bureaucrats want us to believe those things are privileges, just as they did with driving and are now doing with free speech and self-defense (owning a firearm). Big Government, under the command of Big Business works hard to make it impossible to live in peace without being bullied for wanting to raise three kids, instead of one, to produce what we eat or to mine the resources we need to build and improve the lives of those who haven’t seen what human ingenuity is capable of. And when they allow people to access high quality goods and services, they do it with a double intention to turn them dependent on those products. Through their hubris filled behaviour, regulators empower themselves to support laws that only the corporations that wrote them can understand and that they can be interpreted vaguely enough to leave open doors for more corruption. They invent unreal conditions and products to rip consumers off, to steal their life savings as they invest their hard earned social security monies into artificial financial products that are as ephimerous are the air. They reward companies that send jobs abroad, or that pay slaves to create the toys and distractions we all waste our time on while they become ever more powerful. They subsidized Big Corp, to eliminate competition and to turn healthy economies into labor camps. They created a financial crisis, and are now charging taxpayers for the costs of getting bailed out.

They’ve now transformed people’s legitimate concern to keep the world we live in clean and healthy, into an agenda of environmental suicide, by allowing toxic products to pollute the air, water, and soils, while banning all forms of creative entrepreneurship that may bring cleaner, simpler, environmentally friendly forms of production. While we the people need to go through austerity in order to ‘save the global economy’, the elite continues to spend our money and our resources in their lavish palaces and large properties. We the dependent and ignorant need to curb our footprint, while theirs grows uncontrollably. The elite-controlled Big Government preys on the decent and honest people, brainwashes their children and bribes their pastors to make them believe that all its corruption and oppression is for the best; that they are the only ones who can deliver us from doom, even if that means that we humans need to learn to hate ourselves.

The Three Stooges: Hansen, Lovelock and Ehrlich

By JURRIAAN MAESSEN | INFOWARS | APRIL 10, 2012

The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) has recently published a collection of “key messages” written by the usual suspects, including eugenicist Paul Ehrlich, climate dictator James Lovelock and NASA’s own terror-endorsing James Hansen.

In the statement titled “Environment and Development Challenges: The Imperative to Act”meant to inspire the UN and its upcoming 2012 Earth Summit, the fiends call for a global implementation of population policies. To effectively implement these policies the authors propose rights being infringed upon in order to address what they call “the population issue”:

“The population issue should be urgently addressed by education and empowerment of women, including in the work-force and in rights, ownership and inheritance; health care of children and the elderly; and making modern contraception accessible to all.”, they write.

We of course know perfectly well what they mean by “health care of children and the elderly”. We have recently seen the terrible results of health care for children in the eugenicists’ model-state of China.

Decrying that “funding (for worldwide fertility control) decreased by 30% between 1995 and 2008, not least as a result of legislative pressure from the religious right in the USA and elsewhere”, the authors call for “education and planning needed to foster and achieve a sustainable human population and lifestyles.”

How does one do that exactly, “achieve a sustainable human population”, you may wonder:

“Globally, we must find better means to agree and implement measures to achieve collective goals.”

Finally, in a dramatic turn the band of eugenic brothers turn to the old Malthusian trick of scaring the children into action:

“In the face of an absolutely unprecedented emergency, society has no choice but to take dramatic action to avert a collapse of civilization. Either we will change our ways and build an entirely new kind of global society, or they will be changed for us.”
