The American Wars that Kill Americans

By LUIS MIRANDA | THE REAL AGENDA | SEPTEMBER 13, 2012

The lifeless body of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

Although the killing of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya might be a direct response to an offensive film produced in the United States, the truth is that the real reason for the violence in Libya is not the film itself, but the United States’ increasingly oppressive foreign policy towards the Middle East in an effort to set the region on fire.

Balkanization to divide and conquer has been the official American policy for many years, as stated in official US government documents.

The attack against the Americans took place in the city of Benghazi, a well known al-Qaeda power center, where alleged al-Qaeda gunmen who belong to Ansar al-Sharia carried out the attack on the Americans, captured the American ambassador and his staff before, paraded them on the streets, lynched them — Gaddafi style — and then killed them.

“The American ambassador and three staff members were killed when gunmen fired rockets in their direction,” said a Libyan official. The same al-Qaeda forces that are responsible for the killing of the ambassador are the ones recently supported by the United States and NATO in their attempt to destabilize Libya.

As reported by various news agencies, al-Qaeda led militias established themselves in Libya back in 2011, before launching multiple attacks against the Gaddafi regime in February of 2011. The core of the terrorist groups supported by the West were headed by a former Guantanamo Bay prisoner, reports Infowars.com.

News agencies like the Associated Press, Reuters and Agence France Presse have all reported about the financial and military support provided by the U.S. to Gaddafi opposition groups in Libya. Many if not all of those groups were al-Qaeda affiliates in the country or groups of armed militias that infiltrated the country from neighboring nations.

At the moment, Libya, Syria and Iran are infested with tribal lords, guerrilla groups and terrorist groups backed by the U.S. government and directly operated by the CIA and other western intelligence agencies. As mentioned by American white papers, the official U.S. policy is to destabilize countries that are not aligned with western imperialist policies.

As Barack Obama warns the world that the murder of the Ambassador will not go unpunished, the truth is that his death will work as an propaganda instrument to push for more American aggression in the region. As of now, the United States has launched drones over Libya in an attempt to “hunt” those who captured and killed Ambassador Stevens.

The same policy used in the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia, among others, is now being implemented in Libya, Syria and Iran, where intelligence agencies back local government opposition groups to promote conflict, murder innocent people and later call for an armed intervention by NATO or to support United Nations’ resolutions to invade and execute ‘humanitarian’ attacks on the population.

Do not expect the United States to withdraw its forces or rethink its murderous foreign policy abroad. The country will continue to execute their attacks on more nations in the Middle East and Africa to force the fall of more governments and to ‘light up more fires’ that render the West more power and more resources in those regions.

US State Department exempts 11 Countries from Iran Sanctions

By JOSH ROGIN | FOREIGN POLICY | MARCH 21, 2012

The State Department announced on Tuesday that it would exempt 10 European countries and Japan from penalties for doing business with Iran’s central bank, because those countries are making significant progress toward weaning themselves off of Iranian oil.

“I am pleased to announce that an initial group of eleven countries has significantly reduced their volume of crude oil purchases from Iran — Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. As a result, I will report to the Congress that sanctions pursuant to Section 1245 of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2012 (NDAA) will not apply to the financial institutions based in these countries, for a renewable period of 180 days,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a Tuesday statement. “The actions taken by these countries were not easy. They had to rethink their energy needs at a critical time for the world economy and quickly begin to find alternatives to Iranian oil, which many had been reliant on for their energy needs.”

The European Union banned all new purchases of Iranian crude oil as of Jan. 23 and will phase out existing contracts by July 1, Clinton said. Japan was able to reduce its dependence on Iranian oil even despite energy shortages created by the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

“We commend these countries for their actions and urge other nations that import oil from Iran to follow their example,” said Clinton. “Diplomacy coupled with strong pressure can achieve the long-term solutions we seek and we will continue to work with our international partners to increase the pressure on Iran to meet its international obligations.”

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), who co-authored the sanctions against the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and those who do business with it, praised the State Department’s move in a Tuesday statement of his own.

Ron Paul: Government Assassinations a Move Towards Tyranny

Department of Justice issued secret memo to authorize the strike on Anwar al-Awlaki, who according to the FBI,  dined at the Pentagon months after the 9/11 attacks.

Ron Paul said Monday that President Barack Obama’s targeted killing of Anwar al-Awlaki might be an impeachable offense.

Asked at a Manchester, N.H. town hall meeting about last week’s killing of the American-born Al Qaeda leader, the Texas congressman said impeachment would be “possible,” but that he wants to know more about how the administration “flouted the law.”

Paul called the killing a movement toward “tyranny.”

“I put responsibility on the president because this is obviously a step in the wrong direction,” Paul said. “We have just totally disrespected the Constitution.”

The comments once again put Paul at odds with his Republican rivals over foreign policy and the war on terror in the latest indication of how his foreign policy views stray far from Republican orthodoxy even in a GOP that’s taken on an increasingly isolationist bent. Candidates like Michele Bachmann and Mitt Romney — who included the president in a list of people he commended in a statement released Friday — have generally been supportive of the killing. No one else in the field has spoken out against it.

But Paul’s stuck with the civil libertarians who’ve criticized the targeted killing of an American citizen without public due process.

Paul, speaking at the University of New Hampshire’s Manchester campus as part of a brief swing through the state, also made another pitch for eliminating the federal income tax.

“If our lives and our liberty are our own, we ought to be able to keep the fruits of our labor,” he said.

But he modulated a bit when asked about eliminating social welfare programs, offering a caution that he said “might be a bit too pragmatic for some.”

“I have an ideal of what we should strive for and a goal, and that would be no social services,” he said. “But for me it’s trying to work our way out of this. … I don’t argue we should drop those cold. I don’t even believe in closing down the Federal Reserve in one day.”
